It has Begun...latest project info

Amidst a myriad of other tasks, I have undertaken to design and construct a small boat for exploring the local rivers and similar wet places.

This will be my second largest project in physical size, surpassed only by the 2006 Wind Turbine (see images)

The boat will be made from 6mm plywood with softwood framing, with a very simple design. I am aiming for minimum time to complete and also reasonable performance in the water.

I have acquired a 23cc Petrol Blow-Vac, which I intend to use as a prime-mover for the craft. All other parts will be made from items I all ready have, as I am aiming for minimum expense.

Current Design Spec:

-Length 3500mm
-Width 650mm
-Draught ~150mm
-Air Draught ~150mm
-Hard Chine Hull.
-1 Gear, forwards only.

Completion required before Saturday 3rd May.

This is going to be a close call if it is even achievable at all. The plan is to workin the evenings and whenever else there is disposable time.

The largest challenge lies in the creation of a simple stern tube solution to allow the rotating prop shaft to pass through the hull without large volumes of water pouring in!

Other challenges are not loosing time to other projects:
Current
Oil Immersed PC
Model Tug
Tesla Coil
Jet Engine
Bike Trailer

Future
Air Vortex Creating Device (made a lash up last night, sends smoke rings across the room!).
Chopper Style Bicycle

There is also keeping other priorities in the right order and not going for broke on this project for every moment that comes.
Let's see how we get on!
